Calculating magnetic variation for a particular point on the Earth is simple using some of the tools available online. We wanted to be able to vizualize this data by displaying it on a map. So, we created a shapefile of the magnetic variation on Earth in various resolutions and up to the year 2015.
If you ever want to make your own charts, or plot the position of various navigational aids or airports, you'll need symbols. Why not use the offical symbology set as defined in Annex 4 by ICAO? We've come up with a small set of symbols to be used on charts. More will be added in the future.
